Its sad and damaging when antis will go as far as to call other countries “flawed” or even “backwards third world country” (i saw that one coming from an anti before) thanks to the age of consent argument.
The age of consent is created in countries not based on how much people are twisted for “enjoying sexualizing minors”, but because the age people usually starts being sexually active is around their teenage years.Â
As much as antis will argue that teenager characters are actual children and that the content with teenage characters in them will “damage them” by making it easier for pedophiles to groom them, they forget that teenagers know about sex and it isnt thanks to some fanart that many of them wants to have sex during that age.Â
They take the “fiction affects reality” argument way too seriously. Fiction can affect reality, true, but its not in such a deep level. Fiction also reflects reality. Fiction is also bounded to social norms and expectations from reality. Fiction isnt in the forefront of social pressure at all… society is and fiction only reflects this sometimes. Many teenagers want to have sex not thanks to fanarts or fanfics of their favorite teenage characters, but because they are hormonal teenagers in the age and social context where sex is seen as a “hugely important thing” and social pressure to engage in those activities is at its peak.
Where I live, teenagers are deemed irresponsible and will do irresponsible shit like having sex with no condoms. They are treated as if they were pure innocent children by the education system that denies giving them proper sex ed. The result: the age of consent is also “14″ because teens are having sex ( and even getting pregnant or with STD ) THAT early.
So those antis who are so against any sexual content involving teenagers trully seem as if they are blind to the fact that society already has issues with teenagers being sexually active and there’s nothing the ammount or lack of fictional nsfw content involving teenage characters will do to change this scenario.Â
Oh and by the way, pedophiles will use anything to groom children. From candies and cartoons they enjoy, till straight up irl pornographic material when kids are “trusting” the adult enough. When I was 12 I was preyed upon by an adult who literally used anime I enjoyed watching as a way to approach and groom me. The simple fact that you like something can be used as a grooming factor, so antis arent doing much by condemning a non canonical pairing of a fictional material. Completely safe things like “candy” and “toys” are oftenly used by actual irl pedophiles to approach and groom children. Should those be banned as well?
